GP Swim: Final Week - Banquet, Tri-Co Championships & Volunteers!

This week marks the end of the 2013 season with two big events.  Please read on.

Team Banquet:  Wed. July 31 6:30-10:30pm @ Paris Caterers in Blackwood

A great way to cap our season!  The Frogs banquet is simply a lot of fun for everyone.  It's been said many times, but it's unlike any other banquet you've ever attended.  The focus is on fun.

Tri-County Championships:  Sat. Aug. 3 & Sun. Aug. 4 @ Deer Brook Swim Club

Congratulations to all those who qualified and were selected for relays at the Tri-County Swim Championships.  Meet seedings should be available tomorrow (sheets actually came out today, but there were errors and I am waiting for revised versions before sending).

Coaches will be communicating information to swimmers on the specific times/days they will be swimming and warming up so if you have any questions, please differ to any/all instructions that coaches provide at practice.  Additional information may also be emailed later in the week.

However, the general schedule is that all those 10 years & under, plus 11/12 boys swim their individual prelimary heats on Saturday morning.  Relays that are NOT in the top 12 in their age group also swim on Saturday.   All swimmers in the morning session must report to Deer Brook no later than 6:45am on Saturday.  GP warmups are at 7:19am.  The session starts at 8:00am.

All those 13 years & older, plus 11/12 girls swim their individual heats on Saturday afternoon.  Relays that are NOT in the top 12 in their age group also swim on Saturday.  All swimmers in the afternoon session must report to Deer Brook no later than 1:45pm on Saturday.  GP warmups are at 2:17pm.   The session starts at 2:30pm.

Sunday - Finals:  Swimmers of all age groups who place in the top 12 of their individual events return to swim in the finals on Sunday.  All relays which are seated in the top 12 also swim on Sunday.   Specific information about Sunday warmups and reporting times will be provided later in the week (we may warmup at our pool before going).

The Parade of Champions:  An annual Tri-Co tradition!  At 10:35am on Sunday there is a parade of all teams.  The GP theme for this year's parade is the 1970's.   So, please dress to impress in your best 70s gear!

At Deer Brook, swimmers should report to the GP tent location in "tent city,"  where all of the teams are housed during the meet.  It is very important that swimmers stay in the team area so they don't miss their races.   Swimmers should bring a chair and pack extra towels/clothes.  They should also pack drinks and healthy snacks.

Admission for nonswimmers on Saturday/Sunday  is $10 each day, which includes a program.  There is bleacher seating for spectators.   Parents are allowed in the team area (in fact we need a few of you to hang out to ensure our swimmers get to their races - see Volunteers below).   There are food/beverage sales, t-shirt sales and other vendors with merchandise for sale.  Most, if not all, transactions are in cash.

Directions/Parking:  Deer Brook is located in Medford, New Jersey.  There is NO parking at the swim club itself.  Parents can drop off their swimmers at the club entrance and then will be directed to event parking at the Burlington County Institute of Technology, where a shuttle bus will return you to the club.   For directions and further parking information, please go to  http://www.trico2013.com/page.php?page=Event_Parking_and_Directions

Team Volunteers:  Just like other meets, we need volunteers to help run the meet.  We have filled many of our volunteer slots (Thank you!), but have a few positions left to fill, particularly the job of team parent, who ensures swimmers don't miss their events.  Below, please find a list of volunteer slots and assignments.  Please respond to this message if you would like to volunteer to fill an open position.  Thank you.
