There are two big Frog events next week - the Peach Bowl and our team banquet. Please see information below for details on each.
The Peach Bowl (Gloucester County Swimming Championships)
This is a very exciting meet involving the eight summer swimming teams in our county (six from our own Tri-County League and two from the Suburban League). Individual medals and team trophies are awarded.
Coach Tony determines the select lineup for our team. Attached is the "psych sheet" for the meet which indicates the swimmers from each team and their seeding by time. Questions about the lineup should be directed
to Coach Tony and his staff. Thank you to those who have volunteered as timers, officials, clerks and stagers.
Important meet info:
Date/Time: Tuesday July 26 @ 5:30pm start - doors open at 4:00pm
Location: Gloucester County Institute of Technology (GCIT) in Sewell
Cost: Adults=$10 (includes program) 18&Under=free
Swimmers Entrance: Opens at 3:45
Team Volunteers: Check in at swimmer's entrance and receive wristband
Warm-ups: 4:15pm
Coaches Mtg.: 4:15pm
Officials/Timers Mtg.: 5:00pm
Frog's Pride Note: This year we will have 53 swimmers representing GP at the Peach Bowl including many newcomers, which makes this a very special meet. The Frogs have always done well at Peach Bowl, winning numerous team championships (take a look in the trophy case) and setting many meet records. In fact, as you review the pysch sheet, you can see the meet record for each event. Frogs hold records in an incredible 34 of the 66 events, more than any other team. We hold the oldest record set in 1979 by Steven Burke for boys 8 & under free at 16.50. We hold the newest individual record set just last year by Dillon McHugh in the boys 15-18 backstroke with a time of 58.45. Last year we also set the mark in the boys 15-18 free relay with current Frogs Dillon and Brett Pedersen leading the way. Another current Frog, Erin Malone holds two meet records: girls 11-12 fly at 31.29; and girls 13-14 fly at 29.87. So Frogs, especially you new ones, take pride in the great GP tradition and swim your best to create a memory that will last forever.
Frog Banquet
