Frogs, Families and Friends,
On behalf of Head Coach Shannon McKinnon and Swim Team Chairman, Bill Nicholson, welcome to the 2013 season of the Greenwood Park Frogs Swim Team!
This is a special year because 2013 marks our 40th year of Tri-County swimming at GP. The swim club had a team that started in the late 1960s by practicing in the Lake. However, with the addition of a pool in 1971, a more formal team was formed. GP was accepted into the Tri-County Swimming Pool Association in 1973 and was given the name Frogs that same year by a group of parents, led by our first Tri-County Rep. Warren Pancoast (who still lives on Sherwood Drive). Our first meet was held on June 23, 1973 - a home victory over Tenby Chase. As they say, the rest is history.
Our first event of 2013 - team sign-ups - will be held on Monday April 22 from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at the Washington Twp. Senior Center at 315 Greentree Rd. Info on sign-ups is contained below.
DUES
Team dues are as follows and can be paid by cash/check at sign-ups:
1st Swimmer - $60
2nd Swimmer - $50
3rd Swimmer - $40
4th Swimmer - $30
5th Swimmer - Free
TEAM SUITS & PERSONALIZED CAPS
Danzeisen & Quigley (D&Q) will be on hand to fit and sell suits to all team members. Details on our 2013 team suit, including costs will be distributed prior to sign-ups. Girls suits typically cost about $70 and boys suits about $50. Team swim caps will also be on sale.
VOLUNTEERS AND TEAM ACTIVITIES
Opportunities to volunteer and information on team activities will be distributed at sign-ups.
OTHER IMPORTANT DATES
The season will be here before you know it, so please mark your calendars for these other important activities and dates listed below.
· 1st Practice: We traditionally start on the Wed. after Memorial Day, so this year it's Wed. May 29 after school. Coach Tony will set and post specific age groupings and practice times.
· Mandatory Parents Meeting: June 6 6pm at GP
· Officials/Scorers Clinic: Sat. June 8 at Greenfields - Learn to be a stroke & turn judge or starter/referee. Current officials may need to be recertified. Stroke & turn and starter/referee training begins at 10am. Scorer training at 12 noon. A weekday clinic may be added to the schedule.
· 1st A Meet : Sat. June 22 9 a.m. at home vs. Kingston Estates. A complete schedule can be found at: http://tricountyswimming.org/2013/2013%20TRICO%20Schedule.pdf
· 1st B Meet: Wed. June 26 6 p.m. - opponent and location TBD. A complete B meet schedule will be available shortly.
· Peach Bowl at Glou. County Institute of Tech. (GCIT): Tuesday July 23
Please remember that all Frogs must be members in good standing with all Greenwood Park Bells Lake 2013 membership dues paid by the club deadline in May to be eligible to participate on the team. This is a Tri-County Swim League rule, not a swim club rule.
