Tri-Co Results & Next Year's Schedule

Congratulations to the entire Frog team and to those swimmers who qualified and placed at the Tri-County Championships this past weekend.   GP finished in sixth place (out of 36) as a team, beating two A division teams and all but one B division team.   That's a pretty incredible finish for a C division team.  In fact, I'm not sure if it's ever been done before (I'm trying to find out).

Individually, we had many champions and swimmers who placed in the top 12.  Again, congratulations to all.  The meet results are attached in PDF format.  Please note that the attachment contains splits, which can not be found on the Tri-County website.

Also attached is the 2012 dual meet schedule.  Looking forward to next year and beyond, I need to say something about commitment to the team and your teammates that is not meant to offend anyone, but nonetheless may.  For the past couple of years we have missed swimmers at key times due to a variety of reasons that have prevented us from doing our best as a team.

Please let me acknowledge that there are some events like illnesses, family commitments and once-in-a-life-time opportunities that may prevent some swimmers from being at all of our meets.  That's understandable.  However, there are other events that we all have some choice in making.   For those events like family outings or vacations, please consider scheduling them around our swim team schedule.

I am sharing next year's schedule early to give everyone a chance to plan accordingly.  In addition to our dual meet schedule, other important dates are as follows:
- Peach Bowl:  Tues. July 24, 2012
- Team Banquet:  TENTATIVE Tues. July 31, 2012
- Tri-Co Championships:  Sat. & Sun. Aug. 4 & 5, 2012

I am taking the time to make the statement about team commitment now, after a season of great growth and after talking to Coach Tony about this issue several times.  Fun is the focus of our team, but further growth and winning are part of that fun.  A commitment to the team and each other will be needed if we are to continue to improve, have fun and compete at a higher level.

Finally, the good news - this is the last message you'll get from me for the 2011 season.  Thanks to all for your help.  It's been a pleasure serving you as the GP Tri-Co Rep.

The other good news - in the next several weeks I will be sending an email about planning for 2012 and our role in hosting the Peach Bowl.   We will need every family to contribute to our effort in some way for the Peach Bowl to be a success.  Please look for my email and think about how you can help.
